The Faculty Of health sciences presents two new majors

The faculty of health science at the main Campus of the University of Balamand in koura is now offering two majors which are BS in nursing and nutritional sciences. The nursing program will help prepare BS nurses to excel in their career. The program will be offered is French and English. As for the nutrition sciences program, it offers a variety of major options: nutrition and dietetics, dietetics with premedical option, community nutrition and “food science and quality assurance”. The programs are expected to start this spring semester.

Balamand announces its “CONNECT” of 2011

U.O.B announced its annual CONNECT program for the year 2011. It’s a cultural-academic program helping the youth with Lebanese origins to visit Lebanon and develop a true understanding of the cultural and social dynamics of the country. “ CONNECT 2011 will be taking place from the 1st to the 28th of July, 2011”, said Denise Assaf, CONNECT Program Coordinator in Balamand For more information,.
Denise added:  “ This is not our first experience, the program was established in 2001 and is still going on for this year. Our mission is to connect Lebanese and other Arab immigrants with their homeland and to introduce them to their cultural heritage. A semester break in Arez for all U.O.B. Students

Al-Fun Club Is arranging for its annual snow camp trip which is going to take place on the 9th-10th of February 2011 at the “Hotel Mon Refuge” in Arez. Dinner and party will be served on the first night after the arrival and for the next day breakfast and other snow programs like skiing will be served. This event is presented by the Faculty of Health & sciences in Beirut but the invitation is open to all U.O.B. students

U.O.B. Clubs discusses campus life in Ehden

The University Of Balamand is arranging a 2 days trip for all club leaders and faculty advisors involved with clubs to Ehden Country Club for the purpose of Enriching Campus Life. It will take place in Ehden, on the 5th-6th of march 2011. Number of people expected to attend could reach 110 persons. The trip is proposed for club administrators only and not for all members or students. The following topics will be discussed: campus life, motivation, positive thinking, interpersonal communication, balancing career life at university, ethics, change your attitude, get involved and many others”, said Maya from the Office of Student Affairs. (OSA). Maya added: “We are also planning on hosting some potential speakers like some OSA moderators, such as, Hammoud Syoufi from the Education Management in FHS. Maxim Shaya who’s the first Lebanese to climb Mount Everest as a motivational speaker, May Al-Khalil President of Beirut Marathon Association, Zeina Dakash a Lebanese actress and standup comedian who is also going to carry out a live standup comedy performance and last but not least some doctors and professors from U.O.B. for interventions.”

Arab League Ambassador to France discusses “ Union For The Mediterranean”

The faculty of Arts and Social Sciences hosted a lecture for Dr. Nassif Hitti, entitled “ Union For The Mediterranean”.  Lecture  took place on Thursday the 27th of January 2011 at 12:30 pm.  Dr. Hitti, who’s an Arab league ambassador to France and permanent observer to UNESCO discussed the Middle East’s political issues and status.  “ We are not moving forward, we are only pulling ourselves backward instead”, he said. The discussion and lecture included historical, current and future events that might go on.

The Lebanese Red Cross department is collecting donations

The Lebanese Red Cross department is currently collecting donations for those in need. The donations will be distributed to people and mainly to children in several deprived areas in Lebanon. Red Cross Boxes will be available at Khoury Hall, Fares Hall, OSA, Female and male dorms and at the library here at Balamand University starting today. Donators can donate things like second-hand clothes, canned food, packaged food, match sticks and tissue boxes. The Red Cross will continue collecting donations until the end of spring semester this year and there is a possibility of extending more time to collect donations.

"City of Mirrors" on the stage on Zakhem Auditorium January 22nd

The theater club will be presenting a play entitled "City of Mirrors" on Saturday, 22nd of Januray, 2010, which is directed by Roger Assaf.  The play will be held in Zakhem auditorium at 7pm. "City of Mirror" is a theatre poem created of words, pictures, and music connected for the Armenian-Palestinian-Lebanese artist, Paul Geragosian, where he concentrated on his pictures on the human body that doesn’t have any genes or characteristics.  Also, Geragosian's music has a union human spirits, where many religions, cultures, and societies.  In addition, his paintings and pictures were all about a story of a family who had struggled through the war.
